Job description

Verulam Scientific are an expanding specialist sales and service company offering state of the art analytical instrumentation for life science, diagnostic, and applied market laboratories across the UK. As a distributor for several leading European and US manufacturers, we strive to provide our customers with instruments, services, consumables, and application support they need to succeed.

Products: (U)HPLC, FPLC, and GPC systems, electrochemical (EC) analysers and EC reactors for MS, sample preparation for MALDI imaging, automated SPE and sample clean-up systems, robotic liquid handling for synthetic biology applications, air samplers

Territory: Southern England and Wales primarily around the home counties. We would expect your time to be divided 60% field work and 40% office based.


  • Effective customer relationship management in a broad base of industries and applications
  • Prospect for new opportunities and follow-up leads promptly
  • Successfully negotiate complex sales transactions
  • Handle complex demands and relationships to enhance customer satisfaction while meeting sales goals
  • Support the development of customer applications
  • Support marketing communications with customers
  • Provide market and product feedback to our suppliers
  • Use CRM and other tools as required to drive business
  • Participation at conferences and exhibitions
  • Interact with Verulam technical and service support


  • Suitable candidates should hold a degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology
  • 2+ years of experience in industry, academia, or sales
  • Understands pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical workflows
  • Excellent Interpersonal, Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Availability to travel throughout the region and occasionally overseas for training and business meetings.
  • Centrally located in the territory within easy access to main road network
