Customised Mixing Skids For Large Production Scale

The Impingement Jets Mixing (IJM) Large Production Scale units are designed to support the manufacturing of lipid nanoparticles and microemulsions, for example. Each unit can be configured with up to eight parallel mixing units, depending on the customer’s requirements. All skids are built in a stainless steel frame on casters and are suitable for CIP cleaning procedures in pharmaceutical productions. 

One skid consists of:

  • Two pumps – delivering API and lipid streams.
  • Two flowmetres – for flow control.
  • One jet mixer

The above elements can be adapted to meet required conditions and scale, with the number of parallel units depending on the application.

These Small Productions Scale units contain two parallel mixing units, ideal for the high-flow production of lipid nanoparticles, microemulsions, and other nano structures. All skids are built in a stainless steel frame on casters and are suitable for CIP cleaning procedures in pharmaceutical production settings. 

One skid consists of:

  • Four pumps – enabling all steps from predilution of the concentrated Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API), Impingements Jets Mixing of the lipid and API phase and, finally, the quenching of the nanoparticle solution
  • Four flowmetres – for flow monitoring
  • One jet mixer
  • Two mixers – for predilution and quenching.

The IJM Pilot Scale units are perfect for research and development, and small production batches of lipid nanoparticles, microemulsions, and other structures. Each skid is built in a stainless steel frame on casters and is suitable for CIP cleaning procedures in pharmaceutical production settings.

One unit contains:

IJM NanoScaler For Formulation Of Lipid Nanoparticles

The IJM NanoScaler is KNAUER’s new benchtop system designed for the research and development of lipid nanoparticles. This product is made with R&D and lab-scale production in mind, allowing scientists to screen for the optimal process parameters for the formulation of API-containing lipid nanoparticles.

Equipped with our lipid nanoparticle producing IJM technology, the NanoScaler allows researchers to determine the optimum encapsulation conditions for their mRNA-based therapy. This then allows them to scale up the process to run on a larger, GMP-compliant IJM NanoProducer unit.
