Speed and Precision for Ammonia Analysis
Ammonia is an important intermediate in fertiliser synthesis and a promising candidate as a next generation sustainable carbon-free energy carrier. It is also a control parameter in biogas plants. The Ammonia Analyser from Global Analyser Solutions (GAS) provides an instrument for low ppb and high % concentration levels.
Why is Ammonia Analysis Important?
Ammonia is expected to play an important role in renewable energy production. It can be used directly as a fuel in internal combustion engines or is utilised to produce electricity via (PEM-Proton Exchange Membrane) fuel cells.
In biogas production ammonia content is an important factor in optimising the processes in the biogas plants. Due to this the biogas analysers for GAS have an optional ammonia analysis channel using Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD).
Globally 85% of ammonia produced is used as fertiliser for food production. The remaining 15% is used industrial applications including explosives and polymer production. Therefore, there is a demand for high % analysis requiring an inert analysis instrument.
What is the Benefit of Ammonia Analysis with a GAS CompactGC4.0?
Due to the aggressive property of ammonia, detection of ammonia at high % level is challenging for the lifetime of the analyser. Analysers based on MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) are not suitable for ammonia analysis. The GAS CompactGC4.0 is an instrument based on proven GC technology with rigid injectors and detectors providing fast and reliable analysis of high levels of ammonia.
