Antec’s line of electrochemical detectors (ECD) can be added to many HPLC systems meaning the extra capability can be added to the laboratory without the need to purchase a new system. However, Antec also provide LC-ECD analyser systems which come with the added benefit of a fully supported, guaranteed methodology for carbohydrates, pharmaceuticals and many other analytes.

 

EC can also be used in conjunction with mass spectrometry to evaluate redox reactions and perform electrochemical synthesis. This can give valuable evidence when assessing how chemicals and pharmaceuticals will degrade or partition in the body. An example of these EC reactions is Hydrogen–deuterium exchange (HDX) is used for studying the tertiary structure of proteins, or protein folding.
