How are you mixing your QuEChERS samples? Roller mixer (hopefully you’re not losing sample as the vessels lay on their side)? The poor old lab technician with the huge muscles that weren’t there when they were first employed?
QuEChERS (Quick Easy Cheap Effective Rugged and Safe) extraction is now a mainstream technique in laboratories. It is effectively a form of dispersive solid phase extraction (dSPE) and as such the transfer through mixing with the dSPE phase determines the efficiency of the process.
QuEChERS results can sometimes vary as the mixing is inconsistent across samples. We all know that if you are mixing by hand, we start off all keen and consistent and then after about 5 or 6 samples this soon goes downhill, and variability comes in. To reduce this variability, you can either mix for longer (not popular with the lab technician or the lab manager who both want the task done quicker) or you can mix faster. The aim of the extraction is a reproducible extraction with the highest recovery in the shortest time possible. LCTech have developed a vertical shaker in the MIX-TRACTION that allows you to do this and all while your staff are doing something else.
The added advantage is that it is not just limited to QuEChERS. You can extract environmental, biological and food samples simply for pesticides, PFAS (data shown in the link) or any standard liquid extraction analytes. MIX-TRACTION – the groundbreaking shaker from LCTech
