Read on to see how this challenge may be overcome using the SubliMATETM from HTX Technologies and Photocleavable Mass Tags (PC-MTs) patented by AmberGen Inc.

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry imaging is a powerful technique for spatial localization of analytes, but analysing high molecular weight intact proteins remains challenging. AmberGen, Inc. has developed a patented workflow termed MALDI-IHC, which uses antibody probes conjugated to photocleavable mass tags (PC-MTs) to detect these proteins via released reporter mass tags. This technique is compatible with multiomic and multimodal workflows and requires careful matrix deposition to minimize delocalization of PC-MTs. The HTX SubliMATETM system, which uses solvent-free sublimation, enables ultra-high spatial resolution imaging by producing small matrix crystals essential for MALDI-IHC workflows.
